An unfortunate gameday change due to weather early last week forced the Bruin girls varsity basketball team into a situation where they had to play the #2 team in the state, the Sutherlin Lady Bulldogs, the next day, on the road, after exhausting themselves the evening prior to secure their first win in post-season play over the Douglas Lady Trojans. The Lady Bulldogs took full advantage of the fatigued Bruin girls on the road, establishing a full court press and frenzied pace that led to a large Sutherlin lead early and ultimately a sizeable win.
However, the Bruin girls strong season and 1-1 post season record thus far was enough to not only qualify for the state play-offs, but also earned themselves a coveted first round home game, TONIGHT, at Bruins arena.
In the first round of single elimination play, the #18 Burns Lady Hilanders will make the 8 hour drive from south eastern Oregon to challenge the #17 Bruin girls. The Lady Hilanders share the same 1-1 post-season record after backing into the post-season on a three game losing streak.
The Bruin girls on the other hand come into this home play-off game going 7-2 in their last nine games, putting up 465 points of offense in those same nine games.
This first round play-off game between the #17 Bruin girls and the #18 Burns Lady Hilanders tips-off TONIGHT, February 21st, at 5:00pm, at Bruins arena.
