Bruin Girls Take Home Opener 3-1

Sawyer Adams #12, finishing off the fast break to score the Bruin girls first goal.

Now in the second week of school, fall sports programs are now in full swing, and for head coach Brian Carlson and his Brookings-Harbor varsity girls soccer program, Thursday afternoon was their second game of the 2024 season after traveling to Medford last Thursday to take on the Cascade Christian Lady Challengers.

Coming into Thursday afternoon game with a 1-0 record after defeating the Lady Challengers 2-0, the Bruin girls started their game with the 0-1 Coquille Lady Red Devils, coming off a loss to Sutherlin, with confidence and purpose.

The Bruin girls defense established itself early in the first half, shutting down the Lady Red Devil attack at mid-field and setting up a potent offensive attack that would strike early in the first half of play after freshman striker, Sawyer Adams received a through ball on a fast break up the right side and put in the back of the net just 10 minutes into the game.

The Bruin girls would add two more goals in the game to take the 3-1 win and 2-0 record to start the season.

The Bruin girls will be on the road to Winston next Tuesday, to challenge the 1-1 Douglas Lady Trojans coming off a loss to Sutherlin with kick-off scheduled for 4:00pm.
