As High school sports programs pass the mid-way point of their 2023 spring programs, another outstanding Brookings-Harbor High School student athlete has been chosen Barron’s ‘Star Student Athlete’. Student athletes are selected by their coach’s for their outstanding efforts in the sports arena, as well as their exemplary scholastic and community participation.
This weeks selection is Ella Reneau, a freshman who participated on three varsity sports teams for the Bruins this season and was chosen by head coach Tony Baron for her work ethic and dedication that earned her the centerfield position for the Bruins girls varsity softball team this season.
Ella is currently leading the team in batting average hitting .358, second on the team in On Base Percentage, leads the team with 24 hits, is second on the team with Runs Batted In with 12, and is tied for second on the team scoring 18 runs, as a freshman.
As a three sport varsity athlete competing in coach Vanessa Nidiffer’s varsity volleyball program as well as head coach Kara Miller’s varsity girls basketball team, and now participating in coach Tony Baron’s softball program, this weeks selection is a great example, excelling in all aspects of the ‘Star Student Athlete’ program showing determination, competitiveness, and work ethic while balancing a 3.75 GPA.
Scholastically Ella has balanced her athletic participation while carrying a 3.75 GPA in courses such as Honors English, Engine Repair, Welding, Physical Science, Woodworking, and Algerbra. “After high school I intend to go to the University of Oregon, and study to become a Kindergarten teacher.” she told the Compass.
“Ella’s progress this year as a softball player has been incredible, she can slap hit, drag bunt or swing away with power” coach Baron said, “she does so much now and Bruin fans should be as exited as we are to see what her future holds.”
Congratulations Ella, we are confident that you will continue to be successful in any future endeavor you should choose to pursue.
Special thanks to corporate sponsors Barron’s Home Furnishings and In Motion Graphics who make this recognition possible.
