Looking to continue their three game win streak, BHHS girls varsity softball and head coach Tony Baron hosted the 4-3 Bandon Lady Tigers Thursday afternoon.
Senior Maddy Taylor, #22, stepped into the circle for the Bruin girls and the Lady Tigers started their offense with a one out double and a 3 and 2 single, scoring the first runs of the game before ending their offensive half of the first with two runs. The pitching for Bandon then held the Bruin girls hitless in the bottom half, leaving the Bruin girls trailing 0-2 after one.
Taylor settled into the 2nd, striking out two and getting the final out on a routine grounder back to the pitcher. Bandon answered, sitting the Bruin girls down in order, striking out two with the final out with an infield fly to first.
The Bruin infield got the outs in the top of the third, after two ground balls to third and a Taylor strike-out. Senior Hannah James #5, started the Bruin girl offense in the bottom of the 3rd, with a single to right field. #8, Jordan Pryor, earned a walk putting two on, a junior 3rd baseman Cam Crosby, #2, single would score 1, before #22, Maddy Talyor sent an 0-1 pitch out of the park, scoring 3.
The Bruin girls would score 4 in the 3rd, and the Lady Tigers would could back in the top of the 4th and answer with 2 runs in the after getting two on and scoring on a wild pitch, making the score 5-4 Bruins going into the bottom of the 4th. The Bruin girl offense put together 6 hits and 2 walks in the 4th for 7 runs and a 12-4 lead.
Taylor retired Bandon in order in the top of the 5th after two infield grounders to second and an fly-out to left field. In the bottom of the 5th, the Bruin girls put 2 runs on the board after two outs, ending the game with a 14-4 Bruin girl win.
The Bruin girls will be on the road Monday, traveling to Rogue River taking on the Lady Chieftains in a double header beginning 3:30 Monday afternoon.
