Head coach Brian Carlson and his girls varsity soccer team continued to roll through league play, hosting the 2-3-1 North Valley Lady Knights Thursday afternoon.
The Bruin girls dominated play from the opening whistle, attacking the Lady Knights at both ends of the field, stretching the North Valley defense creating scoring opportunities and pushing the Lady Knights offense to the edges limiting any scoring opportunities in front of their own goal.
With few exceptions, most of the game was spent on the North Valley half of the field, and the Bruin girls would work their way in front of the Lady Knights goal before sophomore forward Elle Hanneman #11, would score off of a #12 Sawyer Adams assist just inside the penalty box to take a 1-0 lead 23:00 minutes into the first half.
The Bruin girls defense continued to hold the Lady Knights offense in check, beating North Valley to loose balls and pushing the ball to the Bruin girls offensive attack creating many scoring opportunities. Trailing 1-0 to start the second half of play, North Valley desperately pressed early to tie the score, however, the Bruin girls defense continued to keep the Lady Knights from creating scoring opportunities as they dominated midfield play.
The Bruin girls would again work the ball in front of the North Valley goal before freshman forward #12 Sawyer Adams connected, putting the ball behind the keeper for the Bruin girls second goal of the game, to take a 2-0 lead.
After the Bruin girls second goal, frustration set in for the Lady Knights who could not get through the Bruin girls defensive back line, and as the Bruin girls dominated play, North Valley would foul, setting up a direct free kick from just outside the penalty box. Junior midfielder Avery Hodge, #7 would take the shot, putting the ball in the net to extend the girls lead to 3-0.
The Bruin girls will be on the road next week, traveling to Rogue River to challenge the 2-5 Lady Chieftains with kick-off scheduled for 4:00pm.
