The Bruin girls softball team started the week hosting the 2-4 Bandon Lady Tigers in a non-league contest and after splitting their last double-header against North Valley last Thursday, the Bruin girls were eager to get the second half of the season started.
Opening the first inning of play, sophomore Dani Dotson, #4, took the circle for coach Baron, and the Lady Tigers jumped to an early lead, putting together a series of hits to cross 3 base runners across the plate in the top of the first.
Dotson would settle down in the top of the second inning, holding the Lady Tigers scoreless allowing the Bruin girls bats to answer in their half of the second, loading the bases and taking advantage of Lady Tiger errors to score 7 runs in the bottom of the second.
In the third the Lady Tigers would work a runner around and score, closing the gap to 7-4, before the Bruin girls would add 3 more runs to the board extending the Bruin girls lead after three innings to 10-4.
Dotson and the Bruin girls defense would hold the Lady Tigers scoreless in the fourth and fifth innings, as their bats would keep the bases full of runners in the fourth, adding 4 more runs to extend their lead to 14-4 and take Monday afternoons game.
The Bruin girls will need to keep the momentum up as they prepare for their next challenge hosting the 10-0 Lakeview Lady Honkers in a Saturday afternoon double-header with the first pitch scheduled for 1:00pm.
