Bruin boys basketball, looking to get back in the win column after Friday evenings loss to the Lakeview Honkers, charged out quickly against the visiting 2-2 North Valley Knights who made the trip to the coast from Medford Tuesday afternoon.
The Bruin boys jumped out to an 8-4 lead early in the first period, out hustling the Knights to loose balls and hitting their shots off turnover opportunities and would continue to hold that four point lead going into the second period.
In the second period, the Knights found their game and persistently worked their way back, first tying the score early in the second period, and then taking a seven point lead midway through the second, before going on to add another nine points to their lead over the Bruins at the halftime break.
The Bruin boys struggled to get into their offense as the Knights kept them off balance forcing turnovers and running fast break opportunities off of Bruin offensive mistakes and extending their lead to 17 points before before putting up 19 points in the period while holding the Bruin boys single digits in the quarter.
Going into the fourth period leading 27-46 and controlling the action, the Knights continued to frustrate the Bruins and disrupt their offensive game plan, hitting for another eight points midway through the fourth as the North Valley Knights continued their defense allowing the Bruins only nine points in the final period to secure the 36-65 Knights win.
The 1-3 Bruin boys are on the road to Medford Friday evening to take on the 3-0 Cascade Christian Challengers with tip off set for 7:00pm.
