The 25th Annual Southern Oregon Kite Festival will be held Jul 21-22, 2018, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., on the kite field at the Port of Brookings-Harbor. This popular event is free and fun for all ages. See more than 30 nationally and internationally renowned kite flyers perform amazing routines choreographed to music. Weekend activities also include free children’s kite building workshops and vendors selling eats, treats, and merchandise for the enjoyment of festival attendees. Free parking and free shuttles to the kite festival field are provided.
Since 1993, the Southern Oregon Kite Festival (SOKF) has been one of the premier kite festivals in the United States, bringing some of the most well known kite fliers and kite makers to perform and display their creations for locals and tourists alike.
The Brookings Harbor Kite Festival is today and tomorrow. We drove down, rode the shuttle, ate some barbecue, watched all the dogs, got sunburned, and had a great time. It was a beautiful day – warm, but a nice breeze off the ocean kept it pleasant. It was a little more wind than the kite flyers would have liked, but that kept things exciting. I stuck a little video on the end showing a little of the show that most of us don't watch – the flyers performing their "magic" on the ground. Good day.

Festivities will kick off Friday evening, July 20th, at 7 p.m., with the Fourth Annual Indoor Kite Flying Demo in the Brookings-Harbor High School gym.
The popular kite auction banquet to which the kite fliers, kite makers, and local businesses contribute collectible kites and other memorabilia to benefit the kite festival is a special attraction on Saturday evening.
