The City of Brookings officially announces the upcoming July retirement for Chief of Police/Director of Public Safety Chris Wallace.
Chief Wallace started his Law Enforcement career in Curry County in 1992 where he worked as a Patrol Deputy for the Curry County Sheriff’s Department. In 1995 Chief Wallace left the Curry County Sheriff’s Department and took employment with the City of Brookings as a Patrol Officer.
During Wallace’s time in patrol, he was a K-9 Handler for Hojee a well known Brookings Police Patrol K-9 for many years, during this time the two were credited with numerous apprehensions and illegal narcotics finds in both Oregon and California.
In 1998 Wallace was promoted to Sergeant of the Brookings Police Department and in 2001 Wallace was appointed Brookings Chief of Police. In 2012 the City of Brookings appointed Wallace Director of Public Safety and placed Brookings Fire and Rescue under his responsibility.
Chief Wallace has been instrumental in developing and maintaining many successful programs over the years and has been a positive influence on all City of Brookings operations.
Chief Wallace holds an Associate of Applied Science Degree, a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice Administration, A Master of Public Administration Degree and is a Graduate of the 214th session of the FBI National Academy.
Wallace plans on remaining in the area with his family and feels blessed to have been able to work for such a wonderful Law Enforcement organization full of professional dedicated employees working hard to make Brookings a wonderful place to live, work and play.
