On Monday the Brookings-Harbor boys varsity golf team took to the links at home on a beautiful sunny and dry day.
Hosting Rogue River High School and Reedsport, the Bruins took full advantage of being at home at Salmon Run golf course, one of the tougher courses these golfers see on the season.
Led by Bruin senior Bret Darger who hit an 85 on the day, the Bruins had three golfers who hit under 100 on the course with Cameron Kime who hit a 94, and Zack Walker who finished the day with a 97.
Later in the afternoon, the wind became stronger through the valleys and the course became more difficult.
The Bruins Luke Beaman finished the day with a respectable 101 as Robbie Rowe and Ethan Hooper checked into the clubhouse with a 108 and 110 on their scorecards respectively.
Bret Darger was masterful on his day, determined and consistent as he beat the field by seven strokes.
As a team, the Bruins took the tournament by a total of 20 strokes.
