‘Boil Water’ Order for Parts of Brookings

The City of Brookings is experiencing a loss in water pressure due to a water pump failure in the upper Dodge Avenue area near Parkview Drive affecting approximately a dozen residents from addresses 97516 to 97170 Dodge Avenue.

As of Friday afternoon, December 6th, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE A BOIL WATER ORDER is in affect for residents in that area as drinking as water may be contaminated. Even if you may have not experienced a loss in water pressure your tap water may still be contaminated.

Bring all water to a rolling boil for one minute. Let it cool before using. You should use boiled or purchased bottled water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. The Public Works Dept. is working to repair the problem and water testing will have to be conducted before water is safe to drink. Testing results may not be returned until next Wednesday, Dec. 11th, residents will be notified when the boil water order is no longer necessary.
