On Friday, August 17, 2018, Newport Police were called to a reported suspicious death at the Agate Beach wayside in Newport. Responding officers located the body of 29-year-old Nikolaus Hinton of Newport.
An autopsy was conducted by the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s office, and it was determined that Hinton died of homicidal violence. The Lincoln County Major Crime was activated on Friday and has been following up on leads regarding the manner and reason Hinton was murdered. Investigators believe that Hinton was murdered at a different location and his body had been left at the Agate Beach Wayside. Newport Police have determined that Nikolaus Hinton died of homicidal violence.
