Late Thursday morning, July 23rd, 47 year old Jami Pfau of Brookings was traveling southbound on Hwy. 101 just after 11:00am. As she approached the Dr. Fine bridge, 21 year old Tanner Smith of Cameron Park California, was riding his bicycle southbound on the south shoulder of the Dr. Fine bridge and south of Jami Pfau’s 2019 Ford Fusion.
As the two approached each other, Jami Pfau allowed her vehicle to drive onto the shoulder, colliding with Tanner Smith on his bicycle. Pfau’s vehicle then drove up the embankment and overturned on the roadway.
21 year old Tanner Smith sustained moderate injuries from the collision while Pfau reportedly sustained minor injuries, and both parties were transported to Sutter Coast Hospital for further treatment.
Multiple agencies provided assistance on the scene and the incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
