In this third installment of the Brookings Les Schwab Star Student Athlete featured is senior and 3 year Brookings-Harbor High School varsity volleyball player Cartyr Fitzhugh.
Cartyr Fitzhugh was an outside hitter who had an impressive 25% kill rate at the net. Fitzhugh was also a defensive force at the net, not shying away from an opportunity for a defensive block.
Being a 3 year veteran on the court enabled Cartyr Fitzhugh to use her experience to “bring a lot of leadership to the team” said Head coach Lorinda Shew.
Perhaps Fitzhugh’s biggest contribution to the team was her serving, hitting with 89% accuracy throughout the season.
Cartyr Fitzhugh did all this while maintaining a 3.0 GPA. She will be attending Oregon State University this fall pursuing a degree in animal science and veterinary medicine.
Congratulations Cartyr, and good luck in all your future endeavors.
