With the 2022 school sports programs coming to an end, the Barron’s Home Furnishings last few ‘Star Student Athletes’ are being chosen as this school year comes to a close. Student athletes are selected by their coach’s for their outstanding efforts in the sports arena, as well as their exemplary scholastic and community participation.
This weeks selection, Jordan Pryor, selected by Bruin girls varsity softball head coach Tony Baron, has been a two sport athlete for the Brookings-Harbor High School Bruin girls, and was selected earlier in the year as a four year varsity member of the Bruin girls volleyball team by head Coach Vanessa Nidiffer.
Senior, Jo Pryor, #16, was selected by coach Baron for her play at the demanding position of catcher, after taking over catcher duties for the Bruin girls when asked by coach Baron. “She has always been a centerfielder,” coach Baron said, “and she really stepped up for the team this year, taking on and learning one of the most difficult positions on the field.”
Jo Pryor was a big part of the Bruin girls offense, hitting .446 in regular season play, going 21 for 47 at the plate, scoring 26 runs while batting in 19 RBI in the regular season.
As a senior member of both the Brookings-Harbor varsity girls softball and volleyball teams for head coaches Tony Baron and Vanessa Nidiffer, Pryor has maintained a 3.33 GPA throughout high school, and currently is enrolled in Economics, English 4, and Medical Terminology. After graduation, she intends to attend Oregon State University with a double enrollment at Linn Benton Community College in Corvallis next fall in pursuit of a degree in dental hygiene, while majoring in Bio-Health Sciences.
“Jo demonstrated her ability to lead the team through adversity and had been the backbone of our defense,” coach Baron said, “setting a great example to the younger players, while showing incredible leadership and sacrifice for us this year.”
Congratulations and Good Luck Jo, we are confident that you will be successful in any endeavor you should choose to pursue.
Special thanks to corporate sponsors Barron’s Home Furnishings and In Motion Graphics who make this recognition possible.
