Bruins Boys varsity soccer made the long trip Thursday afternoon for their match up with the 3-1 Glide Wildcats.
A confident undefeated Bruin team walked off the bus and onto the pitch ready for a fight, and jumped a Wildcat team who after just one half was wondering what had just hit them.
After a pass from freshman #2 Jake Beaman, senior Austin Fronckowiak #6 started the scoring early in the first half. Just a few minutes later, senior center mid=fielder Roman Worthey #8 took a pass from senior Luke Beaman #13 and found the back of the net, putting the Bruins up 2-0 early.
Striker Luke Beaman went on to score twice in the 1st half along with Austin Fronckowiak as junior Jair Valdovinos #7 and sophomore #15 Aden Carpenter each added a goal before the half sending both teams to the intermission with a Bruin 7-0 lead.
The overmatched Wildcats had no answer for the Bruin onslaught and defensively could not stop the Bruins. Coach Beaman told the Wild Coast Compass that he took the opportunity to “work on a few new things and moving the ball around” as senior Zach Carlson #14 started the scoring in the second half. Junior defender #4 Hobbes Howard and Jair Valdovinos #7 each added to the goal count and senior Luke Beaman scored twice in the second half finishing the scoring at 12-0.
The undefeated Bruin defense tallied their 4th straight shut-out and are yet to be scored on in league play, as the Bruin offense scored as many goals in this contest than the 3-1 Glide Wildcats had scored in all their games combined.
The now 5-0 BHHS Bruins will be at home next Tuesday, September 25th as the 1-2-1 Douglas Trojans will travel to Brookings for the 3:00 pm contest.
