Bruin boys varsity soccer enjoyed their first home game on a sunny, tease of Spring Thursday afternoon after starting their 2021 season on the road with a matches in Coquille/Myrtle Point on March 3rd, followed by another road game in North Bend Saturday afternoon.
Coming into Thursday afternoons game, head coach Jess Beaman and his BHHS varsity boys soccer team had defeated their first 2 opponents on the road by a combined score of 14-1, with the only goal against the Bruins being an own goal in North Bend.
On Thursday, the Sutherlin Bulldogs rolled into town, complete with their own 2-0 record, and 14-0 combined score.
The Bruins took control of the game at the whistle, controlling the ball in the mid-field with no serious tests for the Bruins defensively. The Bruins had four different players score in the first half including sophomore Uriel Cortes #15 who starting the scoring at the 34:00 minute mark.
The Bruin defense and defensive mid-field play did not allow the Bulldogs to establish any control or attack in the second half as the Bruins continued to attack the goal.
Four more Bruins scored in the second half giving the Bruins their third win of the season with 24 goals and 1 own goal for the season. The Bruins will be on the road again Tuesday afternoon traveling to Myrtle Creek to take on the South Umpqua Lancers.
