Local schools have moved into Spring sports programs, and another outstanding Brookings-Harbor High School student athlete has been chosen Barron’s ‘Star Student Athlete’. Student athletes are selected by their coach’s for their outstanding efforts in the sports arena, as well as their exemplary scholastic and community participation.
This weeks selection is sophomore catcher, #28, Spencer Rosenberg, a member of the Bruins varsity boys baseball team, chosen by head coach Keith Wallin for his leadership and consistency at the catcher position for the Bruins this season.
Spencer went 5 for 9 in the first series of the Bruins 2022 season, including 2 doubles in game 1 against Sutherlin, while reaching base a total of 7 times. Overall, he has had 7 RBI and 6 runs, striking out only 4 times in 6 games so far this season.
He has also caught every inning so far this season, including two of the teams biggest games, using solid defense behind the plate to help his pitcher to a perfect game as well as his team to a no hitter.
“His work ethic continues to improve everyday and he is striving to become a great leader in the program” head coach Keith Wallin said, all while maintaining a 3.3 grade point average carrying classes in Geometry, Physical Science, Spanish, and English 2.
Congratulations Spencer, we are confident that you will continue to be successful in any endeavor you should choose to pursue.
Special thanks to corporate sponsors Barron’s Home Furnishings and In Motion Graphics who make this recognition possible.
