Local spring sports programs are now in full swing, and another outstanding Brookings-Harbor High School student athlete has been chosen Barron’s ‘Star Student Athlete’. Student athletes are selected by their coach’s for their outstanding efforts in the sports arena, as well as their exemplary scholastic and community participation.
This weeks selection, chosen by Brookings-Harbor High School varsity girls softball head coach Tony Baron, is junior right handed pitcher, #4, Dani Dotson.
Dotson, playing her third season for coach Baron, is a right handed starting pitcher for the Bruin girls varsity softball team, hitting .422 from the plate while helping lead the team to a 4-2 record. “She has a unique style, and plays the game her way.” coach Baron said.
As a junior in the National Honors Society, Dani is carrying a full schedule of classes including Body Structure & Fitness Science, Medical Terminology, College Language and Composition, College U.S. History, College Biology, College Spanish and Algebra II, maintaining a 3.2 Cumulative GPA.
This weeks selection is another great example of excelling in all aspects of the ‘Star Student Athlete’ program, volunteering multiple times at the Brookings police department, Good Samaritan Nursing Home, The South Coast Humane Society, and Brookings Harbor High School.
“She is extremely valuable to the team in the dug-out, in the circle and at the plate, and I am grateful to have her for another year.” – Head Coach Tony Baron
