The 2024/25 school sports programs have started and are in most cases already weeks into their fall sports programs, and with that, a new installment of the Barron’s Home Furnishings ‘Star Student Athlete’ has been selected. Student athletes are selected by their coach’s for their outstanding efforts in the sports arena, as well as their exemplary scholastic and community participation.

This weeks selection is a three year varsity athlete participating in the BHHS girls soccer program, senior, #9, Jaiden Babb, selected by head coach Brian Carlson for her leadership, competitiveness and her determination at the center midfield position for the Bruins this season. After soccer season ends, Jaiden also participates in Kara Miller’s girls varsity basketball program.

“We are proud to select Jaiden Babb as our Star Student Athlete. Jaiden has been a three year starter at the Center Midfield position for us, and was chosen by her teammates to be one of our team captains this season. Her leadership with this young team has been invaluable.” coach Carlson told the Compass.

Scholastic performance is an important part of the Barron’s Star Student Athlete program, leading by example showing leadership, competitiveness, and work ethic both in the class room as well as in the community. Jaiden has balanced her athletic participation carrying a 3.95 GPA for 4 years carrying courses including 7 college and medical courses as well as American Government & Civics, Language Arts IV, Leadership, and Workplace Experience.

“Jaiden is playing tremendous soccer right now, as our Center Midfielder she is responsible to keep the ball moving, to get her team out of pressure situations, and as a result, she’s getting more opportunities to take shots allowing her to score in three of the last four games. She is instrumental in our being able to be the possession team that we strive to be.” coach Carlson said.

Jaiden told the Compass that she plans to attend Southern Oregon University after graduation in pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Nursing before continuing on to pursue a Masters Degree in Nursing to become a nurse practitioner specializing in either Dermatology, or Sports Medicine.

Congratulations Jaiden, we are confident that you will continue to be successful in any endeavor you should choose to pursue.

Special thanks to corporate sponsors Barron’s Home Furnishings and Tradewind Signs and Graphics who make this recognition possible through out the year.
