Local schools have begun to move into Winter sports programs, and another outstanding Brookings-Harbor High School student athlete has been chosen Barron’s ‘Star Student Athlete’. Student athletes are selected by their coach’s for their outstanding efforts in the sports arena, as well as their exemplary scholastic and community participation.
This weeks selection is a first year varsity athlete participating on head coach Jason Fulton’s BHHS girls Cross Country running program. Senior, Keana Williams has been selected by head coach Jason Fulton for her work ethic and determination on and off the course for the Bruins girls Cross Country this season.
“This is Keana’s first year running cross country at any level after telling coach Fulton last spring of her interest to try this fall” coach Fulton said. “Each day she shows up, rain or shine and puts in a full day’s work.” Keana is an excellent example of balancing athletic participation and scholastic achievement, carrying a 3.44 GPA in courses such as Chemistry, American Government and Civics, College Literature, Concert Choir, Business and Business Math intending to pursue a career in Veterinary Radiology.
“Having Keana’s great work ethic, consistency and drive has been a welcome and positive addition to our team” coach Fulton said. “She is a very team oriented person, all for the group throughout the season, always cheering and encouraging her teammates. Keana through her hard work and determination, cut over 11 minutes off her personal best time during the course of the season, and I am honored to have had Keana Williams as part of our program.” – Coach Jason Fulton
Congratulations Keana, we are confident that you will continue to be successful in any future endeavor you should choose to pursue.
Special thanks to corporate sponsors Barron’s Home Furnishings and In Motion Graphics who make this recognition possible.
