Sophomore center Derek Bonde up high to start the game.

The BHHS boys varsity basketball team took the hardwood Tuesday night in their second home game of the season against the Bandon Tigers. The Bruins wasted no time jumping on the Tigers putting on a full court press and frustrating the Tigers early in this pre-season match-up.

Senior forward Brig Schofield #32 started the first quarter off with the hot hand knocking down three shots, two of the 3’s for 8 of the Bruins 19 points in the first quarter. The Bruins kept the Tigers off balance with the aggressive defense not allowing the Tigers to cross the timeline without a fight on practically every possession. The Bruins held Bandon to just 6 points in the first quarter while the Bruins had six players on the board putting up 19 points in the first quarter.

Senior forward #32 Brig Schofield leading the break here hit four 3’s and 14 points.

As the Tigers settled into the game, they too had four different scorers in the books, hitting two 3 pointers and scoring 10 points in the quarter. The Bruins would put up 11 points in the period with junior guard Evan Fronckowiak #12 hitting for 4 points and sending the Bruins into the halftime break 30-16.

Junior center Jason Vanginderen #10with 2 of his 6 points.

The start of the third period had the Bruins again pressed the Tigers in their own half of the court making it difficult for Bandon to create any continuity on offense as they struggled to maintain possession. Junior center Jason Vanginderen #10 led Bruin scorers in the third period with hard work under the hoop at both ends of the floor and then scoring 6 points in the paint.

Sophomore forward Logan Holler #1 hitting the outside jumper had 12 points in the game.

The fourth period again had the Bruins getting multiple shooters in the scorebook as five shooters added 18 points to the Bruins total 74 points on the night. Junior guard Evan Fronckowiak #12 led all scoring with 17 points followed by senior forward Brig Schofield #32 who hit four 3 pointers on his way to 14 points as the Bruins took the 74-40 win.

Junior guard Evan Fronckowiak #12, being fouled on his way to the hoop, led all scoring with 17 points.

Head Coach Buell Gonzales told the Compass that he is “Trying to create some team chemistry while working on getting better at team, and individual offensive and defensive play. Do simple Better!”
