On Wednesday afternoon, Rural Metro Fire was dispatched to a semi-truck fire was reported along Interstate 5.
When first responders located the truck, it was determined that the semi-truck was experiencing a mechanical failure and in need of repairs.
After the truck driver exited the roadway and pulled into a lot, the driver revealed that the trailer was loaded with bee hives that required some form of cooling while waiting in the sun. Without adequate shade to protect them, firefighters began applying a light mist of water on the protective tarp at the request of the driver.
Rural Metro Firefighters remained on scene applying a mist of water to the hives while awaiting a replacement truck to arrive from Salem.
