From R/L, Azalea's Sierra Alcala, Briella Young, and Alisha Eber out of the blocks in the 100m. Sierra Alcala finished 5th in 15.58. Briella Young finished 12th in 16.62 and Alisha Eber who finished with a time of 18.92 all finishing behind Azalea's Taylee Downing who finished 1st in 15.14.
Azalea Middle School and head coach Karissa Horn hosted the Azalea Far West League track meet Wednesday afternoon at Brookings Harbor High School’s new SOCOMI Sports Complex.
Three teams including the Eagles from Driftwood Middle School from Port Orford, the Myrtle Point Bobcats and the Riley Creek Panthers from Gold Beach, made the trip to Elmer Bankus Field Wednesday afternoon to compete in multiple track and field events.
Sarai Ell finished 2nd in the girls javelin with a throw of 62′ 1″. She also finished 11th in the shot put with a throw of 20″ 4″, finished 13th in the 200m in 35.51 and the 9th in the 400m with a time of 1:20.69.From R/L, Azalea’s Judson Jones, Jace Rhodes, Brenner Thorson starting the 400m with Judson Jones finishing 10th in 1:13.87, Jace Rhodes finishing 5th in 1:11.56, and Brenner Thorson who finished 11th in 1:14.35. Andrew Reneau finished 6th in the shot put with throw of 24′ 7.75″.From R/L, Azalea’s Iris Powers-Schmitz and Cion Johnson-Baltodano starting the girls 400m with Iris Powers-Schmitz finishing 1st with a time of 1:07.77. Powers-Schmitz also finished 1st in the 200m in 30.90, 1st in the high jump with a jump of 4′ 4″ and 1st in the long jump jumping 13′ 2.5″. Cion Johnson-Baltodano finished 2nd in the 400m 1:13.33, 2nd in the 200m in 32.35, 3rd in the 800m with a time of 3:01.09 and placed 2nd with the 4x100m relay team. Tyler Camp on his way taking 1st place in the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.58. Camp also finished 2nd in the 100m in 13.47, finished 2nd in the 200m hurdles in 30.32 and was part of the boys 4x100m relay team taking 1st place in 52.43.From L/R, Azalea’s Brynn Honeycutt, Cione Johnson-Baltodano, Aubrey Harlan competing in the 800m. Brynn Honeycutt took 1st place with a time of 2:57.14 . Honeycutt also took 1st in the 1500m finishing in 5:47.63 and finished 2nd with both the 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams. Cione Johnson-Baltodano finished 3rd in the 800m in 3:01.09 Aubrey Harlan finished 5th in the 800m in 3:07.88, 3rd in the 1500m in 6:24.85, 19th in the javelin with a throw of 34′ 2″ and placed 2nd with the 4x400m relay team . Nick Roberts finishing 4th in the discus with a throw of 61′ 8″. Roberts also finished 15th in the 100m with a time of 15.86, 4th in the 400m in a time of 3:06.87, and 14th in the javelin throwing 62′ 6″. Ellie Myers on her way to 1st place in the 100m hurdles with a time of 21.13. Christensen also finished 1st in the 100m in 13.45, 2nd in the 200m finishing in 27.84, and 4th in the long jump with a jump of 15′. McVay also finished 1st in the 1500m in 5:30.74, 4th in the high jump with a jump of 4′ 0″.Azalea’s Josh Martyn finishing 2nd in the 800m in a time of 2:48.64 behind Gold Beach’s Mason Simonson in the 800m who finished in 2:47.57. Martyn placed 3rd in the 1500m in 5:44.45, 20th in the long jump with a jump of 10′ 11″ and was part of the 4x400m relay team finishing first.
