The Azalea Lady Bruins basketball team took to hardwood Thursday night against a strong North Bend team.
North Bend kept the AZ Lady Bruins playing defense for most of the first period and established themselves on offense putting 13 points up in the first period.
The Lady AZ Bruins, suffering from injury, struggled to contain North Bend who had 7 players in the scoring column.
Brynn Hodges, #15, ran the AZ Lady Bruin offense and put points on the board in every period except the first, leading all scorers with 15 points off of 6 baskets and 3 free throws. Annika Malmberg #2 was strong rebounding under the net and got on the board on the free throw line.
North Bend was very talented and talking with Azalea Lady Bruin coach Bruce Flowers after the game, he informed the Wild Coast Compass that the AZ Bruins are suffering serious nagging injuries on a team that returned 8 players from the 7th grade team.
“We have lots of work to do, and the girls have made a commitment to be better than yesterday.” coach Flowers said after the game.
