The Azalea Middle School Bruin football team, coming off of a big win against Riley Creek last week, played the third game of their season Wednesday afternoon taking on North Bend at Bruin stadium.
The AZ Bruins came out ready to play and jumped out early on North Bend after shutting down North Bend offensively to start the contest.
The AZ Bruins would get on the scoreboard first after driving down to the North Bend 15 yard line before getting into the endzone on a sweep to the right corner of the endzone.
With an 8-0 lead with 4:40 left in the first quarter, the AZ Bruin defensive line asserted itself, shutting down the North Bend running game by taking control of the trenches.
AZ Bruin quarterback Deryk Farmer took the Bruin snap with 7:44 in the 2nd, and out ran the field for a 75 yard touchdown run on a quarterback sweep to the right side, putting the AZ Bruins up 14-0.
The AZ Bruin defense stopped the run consistently early, forcing North Bend to their passing game, which was quickly shutdown with a drive ending interception.
The Bruin running game took over the game, with offensive line establishing running backs Jayce Murray #44 and Tristan Long #14 who challenged the middle of the North Bend line consistently, softening the edge for big offensive gains.
The AZ Bruins went on to take the win 36-0 and will take their 3-0 record on the road next week traveling to Bandon.
