Azalea Bruins Football Finishes Season with Win

The Azalea Bruins football team has been overpowering throughout this 2018 season. Tuesday evening the Azalea Bruins took the field against the Riley Creek Cubs for the second time in the season.

Tristan Baker #81 taking the ball on the end around and racing the Cub defense to the edge.

In the first match, Riley Creek, missing key players fell to Azalea by double digits as they defensively could not stop the Bruins and offensively, the Cubs could not keep up with the strong Bruin team.

The Bruin defense was overwhelming keeping Riley Creek out of the endzone until late in the second half.

Tuesday evening the two teams met once again, and the results were much the same. The Cubs kicked to the Bruins to start the game, and just 2:00 minutes into the game the Bruins were on the scoreboard after a quarterback keep play where Kyle Burger #14 ran into the endzone.

Just two minutes later, after the Bruin defense forced a Riley Creek punt, quarterback Kyle Burger dropped back and hit Kallen Christensen with a pass to the outside that allowed him to beat the Cubs to the edge and then outrun them to the endzone giving the Bruins a 14-0 lead just over four minutes into the game.

In the Cubs next possession Josh Serna #24 intercepted a Riley Creek pass and returned it to endzone for a 22-0 lead just before the end of the first quarter.

At the beginning of the second period of play, again the Bruins would beat the Cubs to the outside and Kallen Christensen would finish the run in the endzone. During the next Cubs possession, Josh Serna would intercept the Cubs pass play and again return it to the endzone, giving the Bruins a 36-0 lead.

The Cubs would put together an offensive possession with runs and long passes that would get them on the scoreboard late in the second half. However, the Bruins would get into the endzone two more times in the second half, finishing the contest and their season with a 50-6 victory.

Congratulations to Coach Thorsen, his staff and the Azalea Bruin team on an exemplary season finishing 6-1 on the year.
