The Azalea Bruins football team met with Myrtle Point Tuesday afternoon and the Bruins dominated from the opening whistle, just as they have all season long. The 4-1 Bruins jumped out early when Kaiden Bornenann #22 burst through the middle of the line and outran the field to open the Bruin scoring.
As Myrtle Point struggled to stay in the game offensively, Kallen Christensen #4 intercepted the Myrtle Point quarterbacks pass and ran it back 30 yards for the defensive touchdown.
Throughout the season, this Azalea football team has racked up big leads by the halftime break and Tuesday was much of the same. The Bruins drove the offense deep into Myrtle Point territory before the Bruins quarterback Kyle Burger #14 kept the ball and drove through the hole created by the dominate Bruin line and took the quarterback keep 26 yards for another Azalea Bruin touchdown expanding the lead to 20-0.
The Bruins running game would strike again beating the Myrtle Point defense to the outside when Kaiden Bornenann took the ball on the power sweep to the left and powered his way 28 yards into the endzone adding to the score and making the 26-0 with just 3:18 in the first half.
But they weren’t done, as Kyle Burger hit Kallen Christensen with a backfield pass that got Christensen to the outside on the sweep and after getting the edge Christensen raced into the endzone for his second touchdown on the day.
The Azalea Bruins would end the day with 42 points against Myrtle Point and look to continue their dominance next week as they finish the season off at home again facing a tough Gold Beach team they faced earlier in the when Gold Beach was missing key players due to injury. Next weeks contest will again be at Bruin field next Tuesday, October 16th, at 5:00 pm.
