Late Wednesday evening, February 16th, contact with a potentially armed suspect by a Curry County Sheriff’s Deputy and a Gold Beach Police officer, resulted in the suspect fleeing on foot.
After initial contact, the suspect fled on foot and led the deputy on a lengthy foot pursuit thru several storage units and an apartment complex.
During the pursuit, the suspect discarded a loaded firearm somewhere along the path taken during the foot pursuit.
Other Deputies and Officers assisted with the foot pursuit after surrounding the area, and the suspect was detained which led to the individuals arrest.
K9 Officer Axel was called out to locate the firearm, and after arriving on the scene, his handler and K9 Officer Axel began an article search beginning with a large search area and successfully located the loaded firearm.
