Argument Leads to Shots Fired

Just before 5:00 pm Sunday, March 10th, the Brookings Police Department received and then transferred a 911 call to the Curry County Sheriff’s Office regarding a report of a disturbance and shots fired at a residence on the Winchuck River Road.

The caller stated that twenty-two-year-old Trever Williamson of Brookings showed up at twenty-two-year-old Austin Martin’s residence on the Winchuck River Road and during an argument, Williamson pulled a handgun and fired off a round towards Martin which missed. Williamson then left the residence as law enforcement was called. A description of Williamson and the vehicle he was driving was relayed to the Sheriff’s Office.

 

Deputies from the Curry County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Troopers responded to the area in an attempt to locate Williamson. A Deputy and a Trooper went to Martin’s residence and while there found evidence of the shots fired.

Deputies located a bullet hole in the residence. Other Deputies and a Trooper located Williamson at a residence in Harbor and took him into custody without incident.

Williamson was initially arrested for Attempted Homicide among other charges and transported to the Curry County Jail. All information was provided to the Curry County District Attorney who arraigned Williamson, charging him with Reckless Endangering x 2, Pointing a Firearm at Another, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Criminal Mischief II and Menacing.

The Curry County Sheriff’s Office will continue the investigation.
