A drowning victim is recovering after being revived by quick-acting bystanders, who pulled him from the river and performed CPR.
Evidently the adult male, who was not wearing a life jacket, fell out of a raft on the Rogue River near Galice. He disappeared underwater for a couple of minutes, but soon resurfaced unconscious and was pulled into the raft. CPR was started by a Good Samaritan who was able to get him to start breathing, and eventually regain consciousness. He was transported to the hospital for an evaluation. The Good Samaritan, who left the scene shortly after, requested to remain anonymous.
Rural Metro Fire, American Medical Response and Josephine County Sheriff’s Deputies on scene would like to extend a huge THANK YOU and GOOD JOB to the Good Samaritan, and anyone else who was involved with the rescue and revival. Those who have taken the time to learn basic CPR and first aid skills, and also posses a willingness to get involved, are routinely credited with saving lives prior to the arrival of First Responders.
