The latest selection for the Les Schwab Tires ‘Star Student Athlete’ has been a multi-sport athlete for Brookings-Harbor High School, however, it was his contribution to the Brookings-Harbor 17 and under Little League team that earned Andrew Burger this current recognition.

During the first annual ‘Beat the Heat’ 17 and under baseball tournament at the beginning of August, Andrew had an exceptional series of game performances.

Playing a multitude of positions during the tournament, including pitching, 3rd base and shortstop, Andrew helped his team make it to the semi-finals both with his bat offensively as well as with his glove on the field.

On the mound, Andrew pitched 8 1/3 innings over the four days, giving up only 4 hits while striking out 9 with 0 walks and allowed only 1 earned run.

At the plate Andrew Burger went 11 for 16, with 9 hits including 2 doubles and a triple. Burger had 4 Runs Batted In and scored 6 times over the weekend helping drive the team to the semi-finals.

Congratulations Andrew, and good luck in all your future sporting endeavors.
