And the train keeps rollin’…, the beast that is Coach Jess Beaman’s Bruins boys varsity soccer team continues its utter destruction of all teams put in their way. The 4-2-1 Sutherlin Bulldogs rolled into town Tuesday afternoon during Bruin homecoming week and were pushed in front of their own goal within minutes of the start and pounded into submission by a lethal assault of Bruin ball control and shooting.
Just 4 minutes and 10 seconds into the game, freshman forward Fabian Villa #21 put the ball at junior forward Jair Valdovinos’s foot and he wasted no time finding an empty corner behind the Bulldog keeper, starting the scoring for the Bruins. Again, defense and mid-field play pushed the Bulldogs back on their heels and didn’t allow Sutherlin to form an attack or breakaway that challenged the Bruins in any way. Just 10 minutes later, the brothers Beaman struck after freshman Jake Beaman #2 found his brother in stride and senior striker Luke Beaman placed the ball just out of the Sutherlin Keepers reach, making the score 2-0 15 minutes into the 1st half.
Less than 2 minutes later, Jair Valdovinos found the back of the net and just 17 minutes into the game, the Bruins route was on. In the match-up between these two teams earlier in the season the Bruins racked up 4 goals in the first half, but they managed to beat that mark as Luke Beaman and Jair Valdovinos added to the Bruins first half scoring giving Brookings-Harbor a 5 goal lead at the half.
The second half was slightly different as the Bulldogs held the Bruins offense from scoring until about halfway through the 2nd half, but that did not keep the Bruins from adding another 4 goals to the total.
Senior defender Austin Fronckowiak started the 2nd half scoring followed by Jair Valdovinos, Brayden Holler, and senior defender Nathaniel Barnard #11 who finished the drubbing with a final score of 9-0 Bruins.
The Bruins will finish homecoming week on the road Thursday matching up with the 1-7 South Umpqua Lancers at 4:00 pm.
