Late Tuesday afternoon, June 23rd, Officers with the Eureka Police Department responded to a bank on 5th Street regarding the report of a robbery that had occurred just before 4:00pm.

Based on the subsequent investigation, it appeared that a 50 to 60 year old white male, with salt and pepper gray hair, wearing a jean jacket and a blue surgical mask entered the bank and presented a note to a teller demanding money.
No weapons were seen or displayed before the male left on foot without further incident after being given an undisclosed amount of cash.

Based on the investigation after the incident, the suspect was identified as 70 year old Stephen David Long of Eureka.
On Wednesday morning detectives located Long at a hotel on the 200 block of 5th Street in Eureka at approximately 9:00am and Long was taken into custody without further incident.
Long was transported and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for robbery and parole violation.
