Smoke from the Milepost 97 fire will continue to push south and southeast into portions of Josephine and Jackson County in the late afternoons and evenings with widespread light to moderate smoke during the mornings. This pattern is expected to continue through at least Thursday resulting in continued periods of diminished air quality for much of southwestern Oregon.
The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has extended the Air Quality Advisory for Josephine, Jackson and Klamath Counties and has also added southern Douglas County. The advisory is in effect until further notice due to ongoing wildfire smoke, primarily caused by the Milepost 97 wildfire. Conditions have improved in Curry County, so the advisory there has been allowed to expire.
Smoke will also push into portions of Siskiyou county in the evenings. East of the Cascades, expect areas of light to moderate smoke mainly due to the Milepost 97 fire as well as the Tucker fire in Modoc County. Stronger smoke is expected near and downwind of the Tucker Fire, including into the Lakeview area at times. Note: The amount of smoke will depend of fire behavior.
