Early Tuesday morning, just before 7:30 am, Illinois Valley Fire District responded to a Structure Fire in the small town of Kerby. The vacant house was fully engulfed in flames when units arrived on scene.
7:24 AM today 12-18-18 Illinois Valley Fire District responded to a Structure Fire in the 100 block Holton Creek Rd., Kerby. The vacant house was fully engulfed in flames when units arrived on scene. The neighbor’s mobile home is within feet of the structure; therefore, the fire fighters first task was to save the mobile home. It suffered no damage. IVFD responded with one engine and two water tenders. Also responding was an engine from Rural Metro and a medical unit from AMR. IVFD CERT provided traffic control and filled fire fighters’ air bottles. The cause of the fire is under investigation by IVFD fire marshal.

An occupied mobile home belonging to neighbors within feet of the burning structure became the firefighters first task to save the occupied residence. It suffered no damage.
Illinois Valley Fire District responded with one engine and two water tenders and was assisted at the scene by an engine from Rural Metro and a medical unit from American Medical Response. The Illinois Valley Fire District Community Emergency Response Team provided traffic control and filled firefighters air bottles.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Illinois Valley Fire District fire marshal.
