Oregon State Trooper K-9 “Nero” discovers 124 Pounds of Meth

On Wednesday, November 21st, an Oregon State Trooper conducted a traffic stop near Eugene on a speeding vehicle on I-5. During contact, the Officer detected several factors leading to the suspicion of criminal activity.

After the Officer was denied permission to search the vehicle, the officer deployed Oregon State Trooper K-9 “Nero” for an exterior ‘sniff’. Trooper K-9 “Nero” alerted to the odor of narcotics.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a large quantity of methamphetamine concealed in several bags in the trunk. The total packaged weight of the methamphetamine seized was later determined to be approximately 124 lbs.

Both occupants of the vehicle were arrested and lodged in jail.
