Police Forced to Shoot Dog Attacking Woman

Late Tuesday afternoon, just before 4:30 pm, an 11-year-old called 911 and was unable to relay details of what was happening at the location where the call was originating from. Multiple Officers immediately responded to the location.

The first Central Point Officers arrived at the scene within three minutes of the first report to find a 52-year-old woman being attacked by a large dog inside her home.

The dog’s mouth was attached to the woman’s arm and would not let go. The Officer discharged his firearm, striking the dog multiple times, in order to stop the dog’s attack on the victim. Officers then immediately began to render aid to the seriously injured victim.

The victim was transported to the hospital, via ambulance, with severe injuries.

According to Officers, the dog was “attached” to the woman’s arm the entire time from when the 911 call was made, until Officers arrived on the scene. The victim is said to be in stable condition but has reportedly lost part of her arm in the attack.

The quick response of the young caller phoning emergency services and the immediate intervention by the first responding Officer quite possibly saved the life of the victim.
