On Monday evening just before 10:30 pm, the Illinois Valley Fire District was dispatched to a Structure Fire just outside of Cave Junction.
What started as a flue fire had quickly spread into the attic. Illinois Valley Fire personnel used a chainsaw to cut a hole in the eave on the back side of the house to provide access to the fire. The fire was quickly extinguished.
Rural Metro sent an engine to the Illinois Valley Fire District’s Caves HWY station to cover the valley, as well as sending mutual aid to the Structure Fire in the event of any injuries.
