On Monday, December 3rd, just before 4:30 pm, the Illinois Valley Fire District was dispatched to a single vehicle crash on HWY 199 in Kerby OR. The single-vehicle ended up on it side with two patients trapped inside. One additional person was able to extricate himself from the vehicle.
Using a hand operated windshield saw Illinois Valley Fire personnel were able to remove the windshield. This gave them access to the 1st trapped patient. After removing this patient they used hydraulic operated extrication tools to cut the top off of the vehicle. This gave them access to the final patient.
Two patients were transported to Asante Three Rivers Medical Center by American Medical Response.
Hwy. 199 remained closed until the vehicle could be removed from the roadway.
The crash scene was turned over to the Oregon State Police who are investigating the cause of the crash.
