On Thursday morning, November 8th, just after 7:30 am, Brookings Fire was dispatched to vehicle accident regarding a car over an embankment just south of the Harris Beach and Highway 101 intersection.
On scene, law enforcement advised that there was a person entrapped in the vehicle. First fire unit on scene was able to make contact with the patient, who was conscious and alert.
The first Brookings Fire Department engine to arrive at the scene, cut the windshield out and assisted the patient to medics on scene. No injuries reported.
The driver had fallen asleep at the wheel. The fire department was assisted by Brookings Police Department, Oregon State Police, Oregon Department of Transportation, and Cal-Ore Life Flight.
