The Azalea Bruin varsity girls basketball team took on the Redwood Raiders from Fort Dick Tuesday night. The Azalea Bruins came out running, hitting their shots and running the floor and holding a lead for most of the 1st period.
But the Raiders made adjustments between periods and slowly worked their way to a tie game. The Raiders stiffened their defense and hit the boards rebounding at both ends of the court. The Lady Raiders took a 15-17 lead into the locker room at the half.
After the halftime break, the Lady Raiders established control, putting up 15 points in the quarter. The Lady Bruins struggled with ball control turning the ball over and giving the Lady Raiders opportunities to extend their lead while limiting scoring opportunities for the Lady Bruins.
Redwood continued pressuring the Lady Bruins in the 4th period, causing turnovers and scoring by Ashlyn Schofield #24 who put up 11 points in the second half and tallied 19 of the Bruins 32 total points on the night.
