Lady Bruins Stumble in Post Season Play

Head Coach Kyla Siri and her 10-0 Lady Bruins varsity soccer team ran into a buzz saw after traveling to Portland Saturday.

The Lady Bruins confidently walked onto the field late Saturday afternoon believing that they had the tools to move on in post-season play, and in the first half of play they proved that sentiment.

However, speed and ball control from a strong Oregon Episcopal team had the same sentiment. After the first half of play, the Lady Bruins played tough against a team that had speed at every position and disciplined ball control in every possession. The Lady Bruins played them tough, and at the end of the first half of play, the Lady Aardvarks had scored only once taking a 0-1 lead into the break.

The second half of play would be a different story as the Aardvarks adjusted to the tight offside trap played by the Lady Bruins. The Lady Bruins just could not keep up with the speed up front from the Lady Aardvarks that continuously tested the trap with passes in the gaps and over the top and races to control the ball.

The Lady Bruins held off Oregon Episcopal for much of the contest, but without the ability to keep possession of the ball and put together cohesive offensive plays, the Lady Aardvarks were able to gain control and take advantage of the Lady Bruins in transition.

The Lady Aardvarks racked up 6 goals in the second half putting away the Lady Bruins and knocking them out of post-season.

The Wild Coast Compass would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Lady Bruins for not only dominating in league play, but getting to the post-season, as well as advancing in post-season play.
