Brookings-Harbor Varsity boys soccer met an over-matched South Umpqua Lancer team Tuesday afternoon and wasted no time asserting itself. Just minutes into the match, the Bruins freshman #2 Jake Beaman found the back of the net as an Ethan Sayne pass freed the ball up on the right side of the goal box.
But the Bruins weren’t done there as Brookings-Harbor pinned the Lancers back on defense for almost the entirety of the game. Superior ball handling and passing skills resulted in the Bruins moving the ball at will, finding passing lanes and the back of the net 9 times.
Freshman Jake Beaman agian found the back of the net just minutes later putting the Bruins up 2-0. The relentless Bruin attack put senior Austin Fronckowiak in position to score only one minute later, and Fronckowiak did not waste the opportunity making the score 3-0.
Minutes later as frustration was setting in for the Lancers, the Lancers committed a personal foul inside the penalty box. A penalty kick was awarded and taken by Luke Beaman, looking left and shooting right Beaman found the back of net, and the route was on.
Luke Beaman would beat the keeper again in the first half sending the teams to the break with a 5-0 lead and really no challenges on the Bruin defense.
Two other Bruins senior Fabian Villa #21 and sophomore Hobbes Howard #4 scored in the second half of play. But the Bruins moved the ball around at will through out getting it to the goal mouth and crossing from the outside.
Luke Beaman also found the net 2 more times in the half as the Bruins finished off the Lancers 9-0.
The Bruin boys take the show on the road Thursday when they meet a strong undefeated 3-0 Glide Wildcat team, at Glide at 3:00pm.
