Lady Bruins Work on Their Game in Pre-Season Challenge

Lady Bruins falter after big wins Tuesday evening dropping 3 in a row Thursday night to a tough athletic Lady Panther team from McKinleyville.

Head Coach Lorinda Shew focusing the team on what they have been working to improve on.

Brookings-Harbor played well showing good teamwork keeping the games close throughout the night. Coach Lorinda Shew told the Compass after Tuesday evenings games that the team was working on their “middle attack” and it showed Thursday night. Mayce McCollum led the way with 11 sets.

The Lady Bruins also have been working their presence at the net, and were tough above the net challenging the Lady Cougars at every chance. Gracie Harms led the way with 6 kills at the net as Sierra Fitzhugh and Maggie Steerman each had 4 kills of their own.

Coach Shew was also working on their ‘middle attack’ which was evident throughout the night as much of the offense came off of digs and sets from the middle of the floor. Mayce McCollum led the way with 11 sets.

The Lady Bruin volleyball team takes the show on the road over the weekend as they participate in the Arcata Tournament at the home of Lady Acrcata Wildcats in Arcata. They then play their last pre-season game Monday evening at Del Norte High School in Crescent City at 6:30pm.
