Coast Guard Air Station North Bend Medevac’s Individual 15 miles Off Coos Bay

Early Sunday morning, April 20th, watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Columbia River, received a report from the M/V National Geographic Venture just after 6:30am, that a 30 year old male crewmember was suffering from excessive vomiting and shortness of breath.

After consulting with the Coast Guard duty flight surgeon, medevac via helicopter was recommended.

At 8:00am Sunday morning, a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station North Bend rendezvoused with the National Geographic Venture approximately 15 miles offshore of Coos Bay, Oregon and successfully hoisted the patient to the helicopter.

He was then transported to Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay in stable condition.
