Azalea Girls Struggle with Coquille

Azalea Middle School girls basketball was home hosting Coquille, who made the trip south Wednesday to challenge the Azalea Bruin girls.

Erica Hall, #22, with the mid range jumper.

A very good Coquille team wasted no time taking control of the game in the first quarter of play, immediately pressuring the Azalea girls and jumping out to an early lead, before extending their lead to 4-16 to close out the first period.

Brynn Honeycutt, #3, hitting the three pointer.
Sierra Alcala, #20, starting the Azalea offense.

In the second period, the Coqulle girls defense allowed only 5 Azalea girls points through the second period and the Azalea Bruin girls offense continued to struggle, as they allowed 13 points in the quarter.

Holding on to a big lead to start the third period, the Coquille girls picked up where they left off in the first half, scoring another ten points in the period to extend an already large lead.

Iris Power, #4, hitting from the key.

The Azalea girls continued to battle defensively, but the Coquille girls were consistent offensively and continued to extend their lead through the fourth period to take home the win.

Lilian Billington, #11, with the jumper from the edge of the lane.

The Azalea girls will be on the road to close out their season in Marshfield Thursday.
