With winter sports programs now complete and student athletes preparing for spring sports, another outstanding Brookings-Harbor High School student athlete has been chosen Barron’s ‘Star Student Athlete’. Student athletes are selected by their coach’s for their outstanding efforts in the sports arena, as well as their exemplary scholastic and community participation.

This weeks selection, chosen by girls varsity basketball head coach Kara Miller, is senior Jaiden Babb, #3, making Jaiden a two time, two sport recipient of ‘Star Student Athlete’ recognition after being selected earlier in the year by girls varsity soccer coach Brian Carlson.

As a two sport varsity athlete, this weeks selection is another great example representing the attributes of the ‘Star Student Athlete’ program and was chosen by coach Miller for her leadership and availability to her team on and off the court, while exhibiting those same great leadership traits in the classroom.” coach Miller said.

Babb has maintained a cumulative 3.9 GPA while playing two varsity sports and carrying multiple college level classes for 4 years carrying courses including 7 college and medical courses as well as American Government & Civics, Language Arts IV, Leadership, and Workplace Experience and has been accepted by Southern Oregon University as she continues to pursue a career in Nursing.

“On the court, she is a tenacious defender who disrupts what teams want to do,” coach Miller told the Compass,” and recently led her team with 10 points and 5 steals.” Jaiden has been voted by her teammates as Team Captain two years in a row and will be missed as a highly valued leader to the team,  – head coach Kara Miller.

Congratulations Jaiden, we are confident that you will continue to be successful in any endeavor you should choose to pursue.

Special thanks to corporate sponsors Barron’s Home Furnishings and In Motion Graphics who make this recognition possible.
