Early Thursday afternoon, January 16th, Sixes firefighters and the Sixes Combined Aquatic and Rope Rescue team were dispatched to an area on the Blacklock Point trail to Floras Lake Trail, just north of Cape Blanco State Park, regarding a fallen horse.
The horse had fallen and had become stuck in a narrow creek drainage a few miles on the Blacklock Point trail.
When the rescue crews arrived to pull the animal out, the horse had been in the water for almost an hour.
After being retrieved from the creek drainage, it was determined that the horse was in shock and hypothermic, however, warmed up quickly and was ready to get back on the trail.
