In the late game, the Bruins girls hosted the Gold Beach Lady Panthers in their second preseason meeting before regular season games begin next Tuesday.
The Bruin girls, coming off a blow out win at Illinois Valley Thursday night, picked up right where they left off and jumped all over the Lady Panthers early scoring from the outside with four 3 pointers in the first quarter as well as scoring in the paint as their early pressure defense held Gold Beach just seven points.
After taking a 27-7fifte lead into the second period, the Bruin girls kept up the pressure, keeping the Lady Panthers off balance, jumping passing lanes and running off of turnovers for another fifteen points in the second while again holding Gold Beach to single digits of offense to take a commanding 42-14 lead into the locker room at the half.
In the third period the Bruin girls shut down any offensive opportunities for the Lady Panthers as the Bruin girls hit again from deep with three 3 pointers in the period, adding another nineteen points to their lead while allowing only one Lady Panther 3 point basket in the period.
With a large 61-17 lead to start the fourth, the Bruin girls kept up the pressure, challenging shots and shutting down passing opportunities and continuing to run on turnovers, holding the Lady Panthers to just three points in the period, and take the 69-20 win.
The Bruin girls are at home for their league opener next Tuesday evening, taking on Rogue River as the Lady Chieftains make the trip to the coast with the tip off scheduled for 5:30pm.
